Paraguay is the second country where Brazilians live abroad the most, surpassing Japan and just behind the United States. And those who say that are precisely Brazilians who live on the other side of the border and who feel offended by the stereotypes attributed to the neighboring country. With its beautiful natural landscapes, its mixture of European and indigenous culture, its two official languages (Spanish and Guarani) and its colonial architecture, the country is a great place to explore Latin America's nature, history and culture away from the crowds of tourists. Asunción, the capital of Paraguay, is one of the oldest cities in South America and was one of Spain's main colonial cities. It was the most important city in the so-called Giant Province of the Indies, a region that stretched from the Amazon to Patagonia, considered among the greenest capitals of America and even the world. Asunción is famous for its colonial buildings, its spacious public spaces, its receptive people and its simplicity. But with a little more exploration, you will find a scene of international restaurants, intense nightlife and great places to go shopping.
