This study presented the salient themes which emerged from the lived experiences of employees during their reflections, as subordinates, on dialogue with supervisors. It revealed the unique communication strategies these workers employed in order to achieve their workplace goals. The study was comprised of mid to high-caliber employees from a wide range of organizations. The employees, who were Caucasian American, Latino/a American, and African American, offered tactics to master communication with supervisors.

DENISE GATES is a consultant and business professor who has taught business communication, strategy, etc. Her research has been presented and published globally, and she co-authored ¿Managerial Communication: Theory & Application,¿ an MBA textbook released in China. She also devised an organizational socialization model published in 2009.
