Creating space for industrial areas and use of existing areas efficiently is vital for sustainable growth of economies. Since 80 s, industry perform the role of motor, driving national economies mostly in developing countries. However, by the 20th century, rapid industrialization and urbanization have accelerated the environmental, social and economic problems. This research explores in-depth analyses of urbanization under pressure of industrialization by evaluation the process in Gebze and generates a valuable consideration of urbanization-industrialization connection in spatial transformation of Gebze. The findings of this research cover changes by spatial transformations forced by industrialization. The urbanization process in Gebze is criticized under strategic planning approaches that are proposed as pragmatic and sustainable solutions for urban industrial areas.
