This book deals with the use of ICT-based methodologies; more specifically, gamification as a motivational element in the teaching-learning process in a Japanese university context for the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language.Method: a mixed (quasi-experimental and cross-sectional) study was carried out on two groups of students (control and experimental group). It was hypothesized that the application of gamified techniques would lead to an increase in motivation among students and, consequently, an improvement in academic performance. Conclusions: one of the main objectives of the research was to delimit the mechanics and translate them into a gamified course and replicate them in our teaching practice, since according to the results obtained it is demonstrated that in this way a greater commitment and involvement is generated in the students.
