This book examines the link between waste and consumption through a cultural approach that integrates environmental concerns with reflections on the role that consumption has come to occupy in our contemporary capitalist societies. Simonetta Falasca-Zamponi is a professor of sociology at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she teaches course in social theory and cultural analysis. She is the author of Fascist Spectacle: The Aesthetics of Power in Mussolini's Italy and of numerous other works on the relationship between politics and culture.
