Mónica Treviño Álvarez hat einen Abschluss in Menschenrechten und Friedensmanagement von der Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana. Sie hat mehrere Studien über Jugend, Geschlechtervielfalt und Religion im mexikanischen Kontext durchgeführt. Derzeit studiert sie an der Theologischen Gemeinschaft von Mexiko einen Master in kritischen Geschlechterstudien.
