Malaria and malnutrition are two frequent pathologies in Mali, and can aggravate each other in children under 5. All malaria-positive RDT cases received in consultation were assessed for nutritional status. Our study included 256 children aged 0-59 months suffering from malaria, 172 of whom (67.19%) had uncomplicated malaria and 27 (10.55%) severe malaria, of whom 57 (22.26%) were malnourished. The incidence of malaria varied from 0.54 to 2.55 per month, with an average of 2 people at risk. Among the various forms of malnutrition, the prevalence of underweight was 19.14%, followed by acute malnutrition (18.75%) and chronic malnutrition (3.12%).The 24-59 months age group was the most exposed to and most represented by malnutrition. Males predominated with 53.52%.Malaria was significantly associated with malnutrition.
