Lexical Inferencing is an efficient strategy to deal with unknown words during reading comprehension in an ESL context. Both linguistic and non-linguistic clues are important in the process of Lexical Inferencing. However, apart from non-linguistic clues, the present study examines two linguistic clues namely, morphological and grammatical clues as strategies to enhance Lexical Interencing ability during reading comprehension. This study investigates whether explicit instruction on these two strategies is effective to enhance Lexical Inferencing ability during reading comprehension.
