Some authors manage to persuade their readers to create obvious changes in their lives and attitudes while others do not. This raises the question of the persuasive techniques that competent authors use in order to do this. This work aims to highlight the linguistic features that play an effective role in persuasion by exploring the linguistic features that Dr. Wayne W. Dyer employed in one of the most popular self-help books, '10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace'. Discourse analysis has been used in order to analyze this text from syntactic, lexical, and pragmatic perspectives.
