Many years ago, I visited a friend who knew that he would die shortly from a terminal illness. I was so emotionally moved by the apparent acceptance of his fate, that for some reason I still cannot fathom, I felt it impeative that I write about my time with him. The result was the story enclosed: "A Short Visit," my very first writing attempt. As a veteran of the Army Air Corps in WWII, the writing bug once again reared itself, allowing for an unending supply of subject material. "Flying the Hump" is an account of a perilous personal experience. Memoirs of unusual and interesting family circumstances that have occurred over my very long life are also fascinating areas for me to dwell upon. "Our Secret Forever" is one of many I have written about. Other story concepts, which I thoroughly enjoyed creating, are entwined with the above topics. As a youngster and until this day, I take great satisfaction in painting and sculpting, resulting in my being awarded blue ribbons in various juried art shows. My art and writing both hold an enduring passion for me. I hope you enjoy these short stories as much as I've enjoyed creating them.
