The Ph.D thesis of Dr (Mrs) Ela Sinha entitled "Structure-Property Correlation of Jute Fibre And Its Composite" submitted to National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, Orissa, India in the year 2009. The thesis was submitted under the supervision of Prof. S. Panigrahi of the Nistitute. The thesis was examined and well appreciated by Prof. Lawrence Le Coq, France and Prof. Mohini Saxena, Bhopal, India. The thesis presents a detailed study on the macromolecular structure of environmentally friendly Jute Fibre and its change after chemical (NaOH) and physical (Cold Plasma and Neutron irradiation) treatments. Both the physical treatments on Jute are unique in nature and first time investigated by the author. The thesis also presents the mechanical, thermal and surface properties of untreated and treated jute fibres and their composites prepared by standard hand-lay technique.
