Literatur Wer genau ist eigentlich der englische Schriftsteller Ian McEwan? In den letzten drei Romanen hat er seine Stimme jedes Mal geändert, von der großartigen Imitation eines Gesellschaftsdramas der dreißiger Jahre in "Abbitte" über den etwas überkonstruierten Gegenwartsrealismus in "Saturday" zum neuen Buch, das "Solar" heißt (Diogenes, 21,90 Euro) und wohl ein Schlüsselroman sein soll über den Klimawandel und den Messianismus, den er unter Umweltschützern und Wissenschaftlern auslöst. Es liest sich aber eigentlich wie der frühe William Boyd: englische Männer in englischen Hochnotpeinlichkeiten. Die Hauptfigur ist ein notgeiler dicker Nobelpreisträger, aber damit man an so einen Typ überhaupt glaubt, müsste McEwan mehr riskieren an erzählerischem Ernst. Das tut er nicht, er spielt nur herum, deswegen liest sich das Buch weg, ohne dass es etwas auslöst, erst recht keine neuen Erkenntnisse über Menschen im Klimawandel.
