Pain is the PITS Program is an educational pain management program dedicated to creating a universal educational protocol for America to bring patient and healthcare provider together for better understanding and compliance of pain care. In light of the opioid crisis and pain epidemic in America, the PITS Program approach utilizes a simplified P-I-T-S acronym guideline for the assessment and treatment of pain to avoid the need for continually escalating opioid narcotic therapy. The overall goal is to achieve a lifetime of comfort and quality of life, while focusing on the use of multidisciplinary opioid sparing integrative strategies, for individualized patient long-term care. Let all of us "brand" the P-I-T-S acronym across multiple media platforms and teach each other that for any "PAIN": The P-I-T-S assessment acronym component addresses and scores a patient's pain control and quality of life, and stands for: P-Physical Function, I-Intensity of Pain, T-Thoughts and Behaviors, S-Social Interactions. The higher your PITS Score, the better will be your assessment and overall health and wellness! The P-I-T-S treatment acronym component offers patients the various treatment options as needed, always considering a: P-Pill (Medication), I-Injection, T-Therapy, and S-Surgery. This philosophy of care for treatments will help control the pain and get your optimal functional status back! We will always follow a conservative approach of care, barring any medical emergency situation, working up to more aggressive care options as needed, until you have your comfort and quality of life restored. You don't have to live with pain. Pain really stinks. You need to Feel Better and Live Your Life . . . Because PAIN is the PITS! So, remember the P-I-T-S acronym assessment and treatment philosophy of care will keep you moving forward with your pain control and quality of life until you reach your desired goal!
