The aim of every SME enterprise is to keep up with the dynamic advancement in technology in order to increase the productivity even though financial constraint usually limits their capability to deploy such technology. One of such technology is the use of hosted telephone system for business purposes since productivity of such enterprise is solely based on their customer relationship. VoIP servers which come in either open source (YATE) or proprietary (3CX) form have their roles they play in SMEs. The most suitable needed for either SSE or MSE was required to be analysed and determined. VoIP is considered very cheap for voice communication but the underlying issues with regards to connection over internet as limited the adoption of such technology. The issues arise due to the development of IPv6 as a result of imminent depletion in IPv4 addresses in which both internet protocols are still in use thereby restricting users' communications of either of the two protocols. As such, the need to investigate the best possible approach of deploying the two incompatible internet protocols to coexist together in deploying VoIP network for SMEs became necessary.
