It is evident that there is low level of pesticides consumption in India as compared to other agriculturally advanced countries. The present study was conducted in five Talukas viz. Valod, Vyara, Songadh, Uchchal and Nizar of Tapi district of South Gujarat. More than two-third (70.83%) of respondents had medium level of knowledge about side effects of pesticides. Five variables namely social participation, land holding, extension contact, economic motivation and risk orientation contributed positively and significantly towards the knowledge of vegetable growers about the side effects of pesticides.
