Jean-Claude Thill is Knight Distinguished Professor of Public Policy at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He received his doctoral degree in Geography from the Université Catholique de Louvain, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Computers, Environment and Urban Systems, and serves on the editorial board of a number of international journals in geography, urban science and regional science. He served as President of the Regional Science Association International (RSAI) and has been elected Fellow of RSAI. His research has focused on the spatial organization of socio-economic systems across scales. His recent contributions have involved leveraging spatial data analytics (including GeoComputation) to better apprehend urban and regional systems at a finer spatio-temporal granularity. Suzana Dragicevic is a Professor at the Department of Geography and director of the Spatial Analysis and Modeling(SAM) Research Laboratory, Simon Fraser University, Canada. She is co-editor of the Springer book series Advances in Geographic Information Science and associate editor for the journals Computers, Environment and Urban Systems; Landscape and Urban Planning; Geomatica; and Earth Science Informatics. In addition she is a member of several international journal editorial boards. Dr. Dragicevic currently serves as vice-president of the International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) Technical Commission IV for Spatial Information Science. Her main research work is in the fields of GeoComputation and GeoSimulations, particularly dealing with the integration of GIS, complexity science and artificial intelligence for the analysis and modeling of complex dynamic geographical systems.
