In India, it is cultivated on 1.3 M ha, with a production of 1.59 Mt and a productivity of 1.7 t ha-1 while in Andhra Pradesh it is grown in an area of 41,000 ha with a production of 45,000 t and a productivity of 1.19 t ha-1 (Ministry of Agriculture, 2013).
