Finger millet is one of the major staple food of farming communities of southern Karnataka. It is one of the important crops both in terms of grain and fodder in southern parts of India for its value added products and nutritious fodder.

Author completed B.Sc (Agri) from UAS, Raichur, M.Sc (Agronomy) from UAS, Bengaluru and Ph.D from UAS, Dharwad. Received UAS Merit fellowship during Doctoral programme. He has credit of more than 10 research articles published in reputed journals. Received IPNI Scholar award 2015 for Doctoral research work.
