Kavery Nambisan is undoubtedly the most significant of the contemporary Indian women novelists writing in the English language. But she has not received the critical attention she deserves. Though a few articles in some journals and in books are being published and a collection of critical essays on her is edited and published there is no full-length study of Kavery Nambisan's fiction barring by few unpublished theses submitted by scholars on her novels in India and abroad. In this book, an attempt is, therefore, made to study the impact of the word feminine sensibility as employed by the writer Kavery Nambisan with a view to understand and appreciate the trials and tribulations under the impact of the conflicting influences of tradition and modernity and to critically analyze their responses to the emerging situations in life so as to fit themselves in the contemporary Indian society. Energized by an aggressive and innovative style of writing, the writer Kavery Nambisan has projected herself as a trendsetter to a new generation of women novelists in India.
