Man with his technological and scientific skills has made rapid development in agriculture, irrigation, mining, industry, transportation, forestry, land management, etc. Unfortunately, the increasing development quality of the environment is decreasing day by day that leads to environmental degradation and its counter effects on the developmental process and the rate of development in the locality. The Sangmeshwar Taluka is located in the Western Ghat and facing the problem of deforestation, loss of biodiversity, failure of slope and landslides, soil degradation, etc. This book is an outcome of the UGC sponsored research project. The book has been arranged into seven chapters. In this book, forest cover change, land degradation, problems of groundwater, and solid waste management has been analyzed.
