Born in 1966 near Kolkata, West Bengal and had his early schooling at Rahara, where he passed his Secondary and Higher Secondary examinations.He graduated from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (A state Agricultural University) in 1990 in Agriculture Honours, followed by his first position in 1st Class in M.Sc.(Ag) at that University in 1992.
