A relatively more recent approach that has come into existence is the one that combines the features of both controlled release tablets and modified release capsules in one dosage form known as multiple unit dosage form e.g. "Micropellets". Past few years multipariculate drug delivery system has emerged as a tool for the delivery of the drugs. These forms play major role in the design of solid dosage form because of their characteristic properties and flexibility found in their manufacturing.Use of micropellets as a vehicle in multipariculate drug delivery system has received significant attention. Multiparticulate dosage forms are pharmaceutical formulations in which the active substance is present as a number of small independent subunits with diameter of 0.05-2.00 mm. In case of oral products micropellets solve difficult taste-masking problems while maintaining a high degree of bioavailability due to smaller in size (10 - 600 µm). Due to their unique properties and flexibilityof manufacturing involved, micropellets are expected to continue to play a major role in the fabrication of solid dosage forms.
