Nicotine is a natural plant-derived alkaloid and the addictive active chemical found in tobacco. Nicotine present in NRT products is a highly purified extract obtained from the dried leaves of the tobacco plant ( Nicotiana tabacum). Nicotine is also available in more stable salt forms (i.e., hydrochloride, dihydrochloride, sulfate, tartrate, bitartarate, and salicylate). Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) is the remedial administration of nicotine to the body by means other than tobacco, usually as part of smoking cessation. Fast dissolving oral films are a novel approch to assist the people for smoking cessation.
