Autorenporträt
Philipp Scheidemann, 1865-1939, trat 1883 der (verbotenen) SPD bei. Seit 1895 war er bei verschiedenen Zeitungen als Redakteur und Chefredakteur tätig. 1903 wurde er in den Reichstag gewählt, 1913 Fraktionsvorsitzender der SPD, 1917 Parteivorsitzender und 1919 Reichskanzler. 1933 emigrierte Scheidemann und wurde von den Nazis ausgebürgert. 1939 starb er im dänischen Exil.
