In 2020, a pandemic due to the new coronavirus mobilized the medical and scientific community around the world. In response to this unprecedented crisis, the World Health Organization formed an Emergency Committee, responsible for assisting governments and various institutions. In this effort, not only health professionals should be involved, but also citizens and public and private sector companies. In view of such situation, mirroring the UFMS Emergency Operating Committee and its respective Contingency Plan, a committee was organized in order to assist a certain region of the city of Campo Grande/MS, known as Grande Lageado. This mobilization of people and volunteers came to meet the concerns of the local community regarding the families in vulnerable situations, because the region includes the vicinity of the landfill of the capital. In order to manage issues inherent to prevention and health care issues, in addition to serving the neediest community through social actions, four interdependent axes of intervention were established. orientations, lectures; food aid, transportation to the health unit, etc.
