Diabetes is a costly, chronic metabolic disorder which increases the burden of disease and deteriorates the Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQOL) of patients. This study conducted to assess the effect of comprehensive lifestyle intervention on physiological and biochemical parameters with special reference to the glycemic control, medical treatment cost, and Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQOL) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients.The study participants were allocated to lifestyle modification counseling (LMC) group and usual care group based on receiving or not receiving lifestyle modification counseling using lifestyle based holistic model. Lifestyle modification counseling was used as an intervention tool for participants to prevent and control T2DM. The counseling program was initiated in two phases. The first six months of the study were active period and next six months of the maintenance period i.e. interventional counseling was provided to the participants for previous 6 months. Lifestyle intervention holistic model is an effective, noninvasive tool to manage and control diabetes. This model may helpful for diabetes patients in the prevention and management.
