The plant Hibiscus rosa sinensis Linn. Is a shrub and belongs to family "Malvaceace". It is commonly known as ' Jaswand' in India. Considering its medicinal properties, it was selected for study. The plant Habiscus rosa sinensis Linn. Was subjected to aqueous, alcoholic extraction. The extractability of aqueous and alcoholic extract was worked out to be 20 and 40 %, respectively. Both the extracts were brown in colour and semisolid in consistency. The aqueous and alcoholic extracts were evaluated for the presence of active principles. Which revealed steroids, Alkaloids, Proteins, Reducing Sugars, Saponins, Tannins and Flavonoids. Both the extracts were screened for analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic activities. It was observed that both the extracts @ 100 and 200 mg/kg body weight showed significant analgesic activity in rats by tail immersion method in a dose-dependent manner and was effective at 1% level of significance.

Miss. Sawarkar Alka Rameshrao was born on 23rd January 1979 in a town Akot Tah akot Dist Akola of Maharashtra State. She Passed S.S.C. in first division from Narsing Girls High School, Akot in the year 1995 and H.S.S.C. in the first division from Shri Shivaji Junior College, Akot in the Year 1997.
