Aim of this study is to create a fingerprint and face recognition system which is established on a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). Principle Component Analysis (PCA) is used for extracting features. The fingerprint and face images are transformed into PCA basis subspace that is composed from eigenvalues and eigenvectors. System development in FPGA includes embedded microprocessor design, SDRAM implementation for memory needs, CFI Flash implementation for storing PCA results and communication interface for host computer. These parts of the design are discussed to develop usability and compability of the system. Comparison methods are used to identify the user in the most accurate way. This study proposes a system to acquire a face or a fingerprint image of any user and process it to understand if he/she is one of people in the training database.
