This paper examines the evidence for a productivity based model of the dollar/euro real exchange rate for the period 1985-2007 period. Cointegrating relationships between the real exchange rate and productivity, real price of oil and government spending are estimated using the Johansen and Stock-Watson procedures. My research over the last 10 years has been related to productivity, exchange rates and economic growth. I have numerous publications in the subject area along with seminars and speeches I have presented papers at Georgetown University, Cambridge University and Oxford Universities in the UK, which included an invitation to the Oxford Round Table.
