About real-life Dominick and Charity: Charity was RVR's first rescue horse. When Dominick arrived several years later, Charity befriended him and they remained best buddies. They shared a stall and ate together. They could always be found near each other in the pasture. Volunteers at RVR walked the friends together, since they insisted on being with each other. Charity befriended other donkeys when they arrived at RVR, but Dominick remained her most special friend. About RVR Horse Rescue: Shawn Jayroe founded RVR Horse Rescue, which is located in Riverview, Florida. The nonprofit organization is dedicated to saving and rehabilitating abused and neglected horses and is run by an all-volunteer group, including Shawn. At RVR, each horse is provided with the care, training, and space they need to recover. The horses live in herds, so they can build important bonds with other horses. These bonds are a critical part of the rehabilitation process. Once the horses are healthy again, they are available for adoption to loving homes.
