"We were born to live together. Our society is a vault of stones bound together and which would collapse if one did not support the other. Condemned to live together, we human beings have the imperative duty to accept each other, regardless of our ethnic affiliations, which hardly benefit our community life. The human character is the necessary and sufficient condition for our common life. The sociological study of the Togolese people reveals that the mixing of its communities has not been done without clashes. The various components of the Togolese people, have, rightly or wrongly, grievances against each other. These grievances generate social tensions on which the jolts of the democratization process of the country have been grafted. This state of affairs calls for the present generation to work to put an end to it by building a true nation-state. In the name of this preoccupation, an incisive glance will be thrown on some salient facts of the socio-political life of Togo since the national conference to our days.
