Autorenporträt
Jon Krakauer, geboren 1954, arbeitet als Wissenschaftsjournalist für amerikanische Zeitschriften. Er wurde er durch den Millionenbestseller "In eisige Höhen", in dem er den Überlebenskampf der Bergsteiger am Mount Everest schildert, weltberühmt. Für seine Reportagen wurde er mit zahlreichen Preisen ausgezeichnet. Auf deutsch erschienen von ihm außerdem: "Auf den Gipfeln der Welt", "Mord im Auftrag Gottes", "In die Wildnis" (von Sean Penn verfilmt). In seinem neusten Buch, "Auf den Feldern der Ehre", schildert er die Tragödie des berühmtesten Freiwilligen der US-Armee. Jon Krakauer lebt mit seiner Frau in Bolder, Colorado.
