This study investigates allegations of ethnic-based killings, arbitrary arrests, and prolonged detention of Amhara civilians in areas formerly administered as the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples' Region (SNNPR) of Ethiopia. The study is motivated by allegations of large-scale civilian killings and arrests associated with security and policing operations, including a claim that approximately 100 Amhara civilians were killed within each of several police-station jurisdictions and that as many as 1,000 individuals were arrested in or around particular jurisdictions. If the allegation of 100 deaths per station were extrapolated across 30 stations, 12 months, and eight years, it would mathematically produce an estimate of 288,000 deaths; however, this calculation is evidence that 288,000 people were actually killed, in a hour 3 Amhara killed at garage zone by police force.
