One hour after the start, a power outage in race control and the pit lane caused a one-hour interruption – giving spectators a second start phase with all its suspense. What followed was a dramatic chase that repeatedly claimed cars from the leading group, before the Manthey Porsche pole-sitters and the Rowe Racing BMW found themselves in a direct battle for the lead. The duel was ultimately decided by a time penalty for the “Grello” following a collision: penalty for Manthey, victory for Rowe.
