This classic novel still packs a punch and is definitively worth reading even if you’ve already watched “Blade Runner”. First of all, it’s not blade runner. The movie is based loosely on the novel. But many ideas and characters are portrayed in a different manner and many scenes are not present in the movie or completely different. We follow Rick Deckard on his assignment to retire five androids. He has to move fast or else the trail will get cold and he wants to collect the bounty to buy himself a real animal. On this job Deckard gets closer to androids than ever before. Trough encounters with another bounty hunter, several androids and Rachel Rosen he starts questioning his life and his humanity. The Novel is not only about android life, but also what makes human different from them or if they’re all the same. What does humanity mean in a world so hostile that it can hardly be called home? I would recommend this book to every sci-fi and/or noir fan, but also to anyone who likes a short suspenseful read.
