Where the Crawdads Sing Reese's Book Club

When I recently saw the film based on this book on TV, I was very impressed. That's when I decided to read the novel. And now that I've read the novel, I'm even more impressed by this book than by the film. I feel a connection with the novel's heroine Kya, with her life in the swamps, with her fate, with her struggle and how she, as a leper, also faces prejudice. I feel the weather, I feel the people, even if most of them are not well disposed towards Kya. I am captivated by what the author has put on paper here, it has wrapped me up, I don't want to leave. It was and will be a brilliant book when I read it again and again.

Das Buch hat eine gute Geschichte und wird mit der Zeit aufsteigend spannender. Das Ende kam etwas unerwartet, auch wenn man es sich vllt. auch schon hätte denken können. Die Art wie das Buch verfasst ist, lässt einen mitfühlen, sofern man von der Story gepackt wurde.

"Where The Crawdads Sing" ist in jeder Hinsicht hervorragend. Die Autorin schafft es, von der ersten Seite an eine Spannung aufzubauen, welche den Leser bis zum Ende des Buches fesselt. Ich konnte das Buch nicht aus der Hand legen! Neben der dramatischen Haupthandlung sorgen die Beschreibungen des Marschlandes, sowie die Story um Protagonistin Kya für eine ganz besondere Atmosphäre. Eine Empfehlung für warme Sommerabende im Freien!

Zu Beginn ist es etwas schwer das Englisch zu verstehen doch man gewöhnt sich sehr schnell an die dialektischen Ausdrücke. Die Geschichte ist unglaublich gut geschrieben und spannend aufgebaut mit den zwei Handlungssträngen die sich dann treffen. Sehr viele Wendepunkte, sehr spannend und auch sehr viel Mitgefühl für Kya wird geweckt. Wirklich ein Top-Buch!!!

I wasn't expecting a lot as I am generally skeptical about books made into a movie. But this one was really touching. And I wouldn't say that you could guess the ending before finishing it - I had several alternative endings in mind which seemed all similar plausible for me. I recommend every reader to make up your own opinion by just reading it - I can almost guarantee that you will gain a lot by reading this wonderful novel.
