For all fans of the "A Court of Thorns and Roses" series from Sarah J. Maas!

Bewertet: eBook (ePUB 3)

Jude and her sisters Vivi an Taryn were kidnapped by the fae lord Madoc when they where children and taken into faerieland. She, a mortal, grew up between faeries who despised her and made fun of her because to them, she wasn't worth their spit. Especially Cardan, one of the faerie princes, turns her life into a hellhole on a regular basis. So when Jude is offered the opportunity to earn her place in the world of faeries and maybe one day even be able to stand against Cardan on her own, she doesn't hesitate. But her choice drags her into the dark intrigues and games of power the faeries love to play... "I am going to keep on defying you. I am going to shame you with my defiance. You remind me that I am a mere mortal and you are a prince of Faerie. Well, let me remind you that means you have much to lose and I have nothing. You may win in the end, you may ensorcell me and hurt me and humiliate me, but I will make sure you lose everything I can take from you on the way down. I promise you this is the least of what I can do." A beautifully written story with a protagonist that is constantly reminded of her flaws and inabilities, but nontheless manages to find (and fight) her own way through, even though it takes it's toll on her. Especially the finale surprised and astonished me. Now I can't wait for part two to be released!

I absolutely devoured this book. The Cruel Prince was my first fantasy read, and it did not disappoint—in fact, it completely hooked me. I ate this book up from start to finish. The world of Faerie is dark, cruel, and glittering in the most dangerous way, and I loved how unapologetically ruthless it was. Nothing felt soft or overly romanticized; instead, the story leaned into political intrigue, power struggles, and survival. The tension throughout the book was addictive. The mind games, betrayals, and shifting alliances made it impossible to put down. Even the characters I hated were fascinating, especially Cardan—cruel, complicated, and impossible to ignore. The dynamic between the characters added so much bite to the story. As my first fantasy book, The Cruel Prince set the bar incredibly high. The writing pulled me straight into the world, and by the end, I was already desperate to continue the series. If you love morally gray characters, sharp dialogue, and a fantasy world that doesn’t hold your hand, this book is absolutely worth the read. It's hard to top such a book. I
