Das war mein erstes englischsprachiges Buch, das ich gelesen habe. Ich kann es jedem nur empfehlen, der mit englischen Büchern beginnen möchte. Ich liebe dieses Buch. Vorher hätte ich nicht gedacht, dass mich ein Buch mit Fae und Politik so wahnsinnig fesseln könnte. Ich möchte nicht spoilern, also sage ich nur eins: Du überlegst, ob du es lesen sollst? Mach es:)

After a long break from reading "The cruel prince" was the book that made me fall in love with reading all over again. It reminded me of being a little girl, staying up far too late just to squeeze in one more chapter of a story I simply couldn't quite put down. The world of Elfhame is enchanting, a place where magic, beauty and danger as well as cruelty exist, creating the perfect balance. Holly Black's descriptions are so vivid that you feel as though you are experiencing the world alongside Jude. I also enjoyed the way, that her and Cardan's relationship developed. It never felt rushed and every interaction added something meaningful to their dynamic. It even got a few chuckles out of me here and there. If you're a devoted slow-burn fan, who also enjoys a well-written enemies-to-lovers romance, this book is exactly what you're looking for.

Ich habe dieses Buch auf einer Empfehlung gelesen und mich sofort in die ganze Reihe verliebt. Das Setting ist so gut beschrieben, jeder Charakter hat so viel Tiefe und die Lover to Enemy ist so subtil. Wirklich eine Empfehlung vom ganzen Herzen!

I absolutely devoured this book. The Cruel Prince was my first fantasy read, and it did not disappoint—in fact, it completely hooked me. I ate this book up from start to finish. The world of Faerie is dark, cruel, and glittering in the most dangerous way, and I loved how unapologetically ruthless it was. Nothing felt soft or overly romanticized; instead, the story leaned into political intrigue, power struggles, and survival. The tension throughout the book was addictive. The mind games, betrayals, and shifting alliances made it impossible to put down. Even the characters I hated were fascinating, especially Cardan—cruel, complicated, and impossible to ignore. The dynamic between the characters added so much bite to the story. As my first fantasy book, The Cruel Prince set the bar incredibly high. The writing pulled me straight into the world, and by the end, I was already desperate to continue the series. If you love morally gray characters, sharp dialogue, and a fantasy world that doesn’t hold your hand, this book is absolutely worth the read. It's hard to top such a book. I

I always get lost in the story and find such comfort in all the characters. It’s the perfect mix between enemies to lovers and slow burn. If you like fantasy you’ll love this series. It’s a perfect match for autumn.
