Der opulente Bild-Text-Band „100 Rennen - 100 Momente“ aus dem Delius Klasing Verlag dokumentiert die wechselvolle Geschichte der Frankreichrundfahrt, die von Anfang an das wichtigste, größte und spektakulärste Rennen des Straßenradsports wurde. Auf den 400 Seiten wird die Geschichte der Tour de France zwar chronologisch beleuchtet, aber weniger mit Fakten und statischem Datenmaterial sondern anhand von Momentaufnahmen und Schnappschüssen.
Ein Autorenteam von 43 der besten Radsportspezialisten und Journalisten haben dafür 100 wichtige, unterhaltsame und spannende Ereignisse und Episoden ausgesucht, die einen Eindruck von der Dramatik und der Anziehungskraft der Tour vermitteln. Schon bei der ersten Ausgabe sorgte die Tour für große Begeisterung. Neben den ersten Tour-Siegern werden auch die ersten Abstecher der Tour ins Ausland beschrieben.
Besonders nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg (ab 1947) wurde die Tour de France ein gewaltiger Publikumserfolg, Radlegenden wie Louison Bobet, Jacques Anquetil oder Eddy Merckx haben daran großen Anteil. In den 80er und 90er Jahren beherrschten Bernard Hinault und Miguel Indurain das Peloton, während das letzte Jahrzehnt eine unrühmliche Geschichte mit Skandalen, Affären und Doping wurde. In den Geschichten und Anekdoten werden diese Schattenseiten der Tour nicht ausgespart.
Neben diesen interessanten und lesenswerten Essays besticht das Buch vor allem durch seine reichhaltige Illustration mit zum Teil bisher unveröffentlichten Fotos: Dazu öffnete die französische Sportzeitung „L’Equipe“ ihr riesiges Bildarchiv. Am Ende des Bandes gibt es dann doch ein paar Statistikseiten, die im Überblick die Podiumsplätze, die Gesamtkilometer und die Sonderwertungen der Tour von 1903 bis 2012 auflisten.
Fazit: Ohne Fakten-Prahlerei ein Sport-Bild-Text-Band, der die Tour de France mit zahlreiche Patchwork-Erinnerungen vorstellt. Trotz oder gerade wegen der 43 unterschiedlichen Autorenstimmen eine unterhaltsame Lektüre.
