In ihrem neuen Band vertieft Slaughter die Beziehung zwischen den beiden, verknüpft die Sache aber mit dem Fall um das Verschwinden von Wills krimineller noch-Ehefrau Angie – eine Volte, die ausreichend Grund für allerlei Höhen und Tiefen im Verhältnis der beiden Hauptakteure bietet. Liebe, Treue, Eifersucht und die Frage nach der Bedeutung von Familie sind die Themen, die Slaughter hier anschneidet. Das geht natürlich nicht ohne große Emotionen, und so ist “Blutige Fesseln” (im englischen Original “The Kept Woman”) nicht nur ein spannender Thriller, sondern auch eine herrlich dramatische Beziehungs-Schmonzette.
