Publisher's Note: Products purchased from Third Party sellers are not guaranteed by the publisher for quality, authenticity, or access to any online entitlements included with the product. A concise guide to the structural design of low-rise buildings in cold-formed steel, reinforced masonry, and structural timber This practical reference discusses the types of low-rise building structural systems, outlines the design process, and explains how to determine structural loadings and load paths pertinent to low-rise buildings. Characteristics and properties of materials used in the construction of cold-formed steel, reinforced masonry, and structural timber buildings are described along with design requirements. The book also provides an overview of noncomposite and composite open-web joist floor systems. Design code requirements referenced by the 2009 International Building Code are used throughout. This is an ideal resource for structural engineering students, professionals, and those preparing for licensing examinations. Structural Design of Low-Rise Buildings in Cold-Formed Steel, Reinforced Masonry, and Structural Timber covers: * Low-rise building systems * Loads and load paths in low-rise buildings * Design of cold-formed steel structures * Structural design of reinforced masonry * Design of structural timber * Structural design with open-web joists
Autorenporträt
J.R. Ubejd Mujagic, Ph.D., P.E., S.E., is an senior associate at Uzan Uzun & Chase Engineers, LLC LLC in Atlanta, GA. He has a vast diverse experience in the design of metal building systems and low- and high-rise conventional buildings of most types and in all major building materials. Mujagic specializes in non-linear analyses and behavior of tall buildings, complex structures and thin-plate buckling, reliability of structures, and design of industrial and other low-rise buildings. He is a member of the ASCE Committee on Methods of Design and is a past member of various MBMA (Metal Building Manufacturers Association) technical and steering committees. Dr. Mujagic holds a Ph.D. in structural engineering from Virginia Tech. His research interests include structural reliability, composite structures and cold-formed steel. He is a member of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) Committee on Specifications and its subcommittees on connections, diaphragms and seismic design. He is also a member of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) Task Committees on Composite Members and Loads and Analysis. He is a licensed Structural Engineer in California, Illinois and Washington and a registered Professional Engineer in several states.
