Development a new phytotherapeutic toothpaste using Calendula officinalis L. as active ingredient, with the following essential technological characteristics: a toothpaste wich can remove alimentary residues; increase the hardness and polish of external surface of tooth; prevent that dental plate stick to the teeth; to leave the mouth fresh and pleasant; to have a cheap price; to be innocuous, pleasant and ease to use; to have an economic pack that maintaining dentrifice stable even during storage and the period of time in the market and, to be adjustable to standard acceptable as British Standars in terms of abrasiveness to the dental enamel and dentine based on clinical essays appropriately done. Methods:1.On the laboratory: to elaborate, different formulations with glycolic extract changing type and amount of abrasive and thickner. After to assay technological tests, at different times and temperatures, and microbiological quality tests, the best formulation was selected.The dentifrice developed was approved for children use in accordance with the brazilian law and the regulations of Brazilian Odontology Association.
