He is the author of A Guerra dos Bem¿te¿vis: A Balaiada na memória oral (2008) and Capoeira: The History of an AfröBrazilian Martial Art (2005). He cödirected the documentary film Body Games: Capoeira and Ancestry (2014) and coordinates the website capoeirahistory.com.
