Autorenporträt
Fidel Castro (1926-) led a guerrilla movement in Cuba that overthrew the Batista dictatorship in 1959. Despite innumerable assassination attempts, the Cuban president retired due to ill-health in August 2006, but has continued to make characteristically forthright comments on world events and Cuba-US relations. Beatriz Allende: Beatriz Allende was the daughter of Salvador Allende. She fled Chile following the 1973 coup and lived in exile in Cuba where, after years of torment, she took her own life in 1977.
