Vor diesem Hintergrund ist es bedauerlich, dass in Deutschland lediglich Die verkaufte Braut populär geworden ist. In der Geschichte des Labels SUPRAPHON sind eine Reihe von Smetana-Opernaufnahmen entstanden, die von tschechischen Sängerinnen und Sängern interpretiert wurden. Das erste und bisher einzige Mal, dass Smetanas Opern als Gesamtaufnahme auf LP bei SUPRAPHON veröffentlicht wurden, war im Rahmen eines umfangreichen Projekts, das Smetanas Gesamtwerk umfasste und zum europäischen Jahr der Musik 1985 erschien. Diese repräsentative Zusammenstellung enthielt Aufnahmen aus den 1960er bis 1980er Jahren, die jedoch mit einer Ausnahme derzeit nicht als physisches Produkt erhältlich sind. Zu den bis heute unübertroffenen Aufnahmen von Die verkaufte Braut und Das Geheimnis unter der Leitung von Zdenek Kosler kommt seine außergewöhnliche Einspielung von Libuse aus dem Jahr 1983 hinzu. Außerdem enthalten ist die einzige SUPRAPHON-Aufnahme von Smetanas Opernerstling Die Brandenburger in Böhmen unter der Leitung von Jan Hus Tichy, Zdenek Chalabalas immer noch maßgebliche Interpretation von Die Teufelsmauer und Dalibor unter der Leitung von Jaroslav Krombholc. Die luxuriöse 17CD-Box mit den neu digital übertragenen und remasterten Aufnahmen enthält ausführliche Informationen zu den einzelnen Opern, ein 40-seitiges Booklet mit einer umfassenden Studie, eine reichhaltige Fotodokumentation und einen Link zu den herunterladbaren Libretti in tschechischer und englischer Sprache.
