"What Is Freedom" is a rhyming poem written in simple language so that teachers and parents can have a tool to use to open discussion about freedom with young children. It covers simple rights such as the right to go to a school and church of your choice, voting and freedom of speech. It also speaks of the men and women who make these freedoms possible. In the back of the book there is a place where you and your child can write a Thank You Note to a Veteran.

Autorenporträt
Angela Landon has been teaching elementary school for about 16 years. After 9-11, the president wanted teachers to talk to students about the importance of freedom. There were not many materials for young children so she wrote this poem to share with her class. It has been used in Veterans Day programs to express thanks to the armed forces for all they do for us. Her hope is that all parents will share with their children the knowledge of the wonderful freedoms we have in America and not let them slip away unnoticed. Ms. Landon lives with her family in North Texas.
