Autorenporträt
Dr. Lakshman Prasad obtained his master's degree in Mathematics from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur and later did research in Mathematics at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. He obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science at Louisiana State University in 1995., Dr. Prasad is currently with the Theoretical Division of the Los Alamos National Laboratory. His areas of interest include signal processing, applied harmonic analysis, wavelet transform theory, mathematical morphology with applications to pattern recognition and machine vision, and computational geometry. He has published one book and many research papers in these and other areas., Dr. S. S. Iyengar is Chairman and Professor of the Department of Computer Science at Louisiana State University and an IEEE Fellow. Since receiving his Ph.D. from Mississippi State University in 1974, he has served as a principal investigator on research projects funded by the Office of Naval Research, National Science Foundation, U.S. Army Research Office, Department of Energy, Naval Research Laboratory, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and various agencies of the State of Louisiana., Dr. Iyengar has made significant contributions to the areas of high performance image processing algorithms, sensor fusion, parallel models of computation, robot motion planning, and computer vision. He has published several books and monographs in addition to over 200 research articles., Dr. Iyengar has served as guest editor for IEEE Computer, IEEE Transactions of Data and Knowledge Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, the Journal of Theoretical Computer Science, the Journal of Computers and Electrical Engineering, and the Journal of the Franklin Institute. In addition to being an IEEE Fellow, he is also a distinguished visitor of the IEEE and a member of the New York Academy of Sciences. In 1996, he was awarded the LSU Distinguished Faculty Award and the Tiger Athletic Foundation Teaching Award. He has supervised over 26 Ph.D. dissertations and over 40 M.S. projects and theses while at LSU.
