He the author of Oceania: An Introduction to the Cultures and Identities of Pacific Islanders and a contributor to the Encyclopaedia of the Pacific. La'avasa Macpherson is a researcher at Massey University. They are the coauthors of Samoan Medical Belief and Practice.
