Since Shirley took over from the previous boss the accounting firm where Val works hasn't been a pleasant place to be. Shirley is sarcastic, demanding, unreasonable and absolutely no fun at all. In a moment of frustration Val's draws a silly cartoon of Shirley and sticks her toungue out at it. This makes her feel better so she cheers up her colleagues by making more drawings for them to stick pins in. This offive voodo works well until Shirley catches them.

Patsy Collins spends her time making things up and writing them down from her home in Lee-on-the-Solent or whilst traveling in a campervan both shared with her husband. When away she enjoys scrambling round ruined castles, visiting friends and eating cake. At home she gardens, bakes (and then eats) cakes.

She is the author of six novels and twenty-four themed collections of short stories. Hundreds of her short stories have been published in women's magazines in the UK, Australia, Sweden, Ireland and South Africa.
