Vicente DeTours has been twenty-two years old for over 5,000 years, and it isn't until the 21st century that he discovers he is the narrator of this novel, recognizing the reader as his overseeing voyeur whom he must free of their matrix. Amid this newly founded mission, he ignores a blood pact that could kill him; he battles against a fallen angel who is infuriated with him; and he fails to find compassion for the hostages in his cellar. This brooding immortal must get out of his way and follow the light at the end of the tunnel, the light which is the reader.
